Rory MacDonald leaves UFC and signs with Bellator MMA

Former UFC welterweight #1 contender Rory MacDonald has signed with Bellator MMA.
Rory made his UFC debut at the age of 20. He just turned 27 in July.
In February, Bellator signed former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson. In March, they signed former UFC heavyweight Matt Mitrione. And now they’ve signed Rory MacDonald.
Potential fights for Rory in Bellator could be champion Andrey Koreshkov, Paul Daley, or Michael "Venom" Page.
MacDonald was 4 minutes away from becoming a UFC champion in July 2015, but was stopped 1 minute into the 5th round against Robbie Lawler at UFC 189.
When the UFC removed Conor McGregor from the UFC 200 card, Rory was outspoken about it saying: In my opinion Conor did the right thing, us fighters could learn a thing or 2 about knowing our worth. also we should support each other, it’s the only way we’re gonna get the change we all want. stop hating on each other. once upon a time fighters needed promoters and promoters need fighters equally. at some point the balance shifted
With Rory out of the UFC title picture, his teammate Georges St-Pierre would be willing to contend for the welterweight title again. A potential fight for GSP could be headlining the UFC 206 card in Toronto in December against Tyron Woodley for the welterweight belt.
The two texted back and forth the day after Woodley won the belt and agreed that they should fight one another.
Nate Diaz says: By this time last fight I had already accepted a rematch.. Rest up. I’m coming for you.
Conor McGregor would be a -185 favourite in a potential fight with Eddie Alvarez.
